Much like Storm Claudia hit the north-west the previous evening, the home side swept the visitors away at the Etihad Stadium. It was a convincing three-nil triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their title credentials as they consolidated their standing at the league summit.

Successive Losses for Manchester United

This outcome marked consecutive Women's Super League setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, placing them a sizable gap off the league leaders with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capacity to balance league and European football with a small squad has been a widely debated subject since they qualified for the European competition. After failing to beat any team who placed above them last season, the manager's side now have victories against the Gunners and United to place them in a favorable standing after nine games.
